Between July and November, we collaborated with the Swiss NGO MEDAIR in the environmental survey of the commune of Marolinta, situated in the south of Madagascar. This survey has allowed us to gather information on the geology and hydrogeology of the commune. An important part of the survey has consisted of a geophysical exploration at the communal scale allowing to better understand the stratigraphy.
MEDAIR has been able to launch a reconnaissance drilling and water well construction campaign in the commune on the basis of the observations made and reported. Additional information on the groundwater will be gathered during the campaign and will help to better define the options for groundwater abstraction.
